Feelings Like Flowers
Flowers have forever been seen as objects of beauty, used ceremoniously as outward displays of inner emotion. Through exploring traditional significances assigned to specific flowers, my work utilizes each inherent meaning and through relating it to the body create visual representations of feelings.
By fabricating each flower in metal I deliberately add permanence to what is typically a fleeting, intangible thought.
Each piece is a fantastical materialization of a feeling. By using flowers to actualize emotions as an extension of the body, it is my intention for the viewer to be faced with the beauty of each state of mind. To recognize that all thoughts, even those as undesirable, are remarkable to the human experience.
